Vancouver Island University (VIU) offers two programs in Resource Management and Protection: a two-year technical Diploma in Resource Management Officer Technology and a Bachelor in Natural Resource Protection. Following graduation, students are prepared for work in a field relating to the protection and/or management of wildlife, fisheries and environmental resources, or to pursue post-graduate studies. |
Duties: |
To instruct and develop curriculum in the Department of Resource Management and Protection. |

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution. |
Required Qualifications: |
Master's degree in a related field from a recognized institution. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
Ph.D. in a related field. Teaching adults at a post-secondary institution. Certification and experience as a firearms instructor. Certification and experience in marine boat operation and safety practices: RHIOT or Marine Emergency Duties 3 (MED A3) and Restricted Operator Marine Radio Certificate. Knowledge and experience with covert operations and leading complex investigations as they relate to natural resources. Knowledge and experience with electronic case file management systems. Occupational First Aid Level 1. |
