The Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto invites applications for a, tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Composition beginning July 1, 2016.
We are interested in candidates with demonstrated productivity in the creation of concert music and works using audio and audio/visual technologies in digital media. Candidates must demonstrate a record of excellence in research and creative professional activity that may include a broad range of outcomes, such as significant compositions, commissions, grants, performances, recordings, reviews, media objects, technological innovations, and journal publications. Candidates should provide evidence of effectiveness in teaching, such as strong letters of reference, student evaluations, sample course materials, and ideas for program innovation. A doctoral degree in music composition or its career equivalent is required. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
In addition to research and creative professional activity at the highest international level, job duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision in studio, course, and seminar contexts, as well as contribution to the artistic and intellectual life of the Faculty through professional and administrative service typical for full-time members of the Faculty and the University.

The Faculty of Music is an academic division of Canada's largest research university in the culturally rich and diverse city of Toronto. It offers degrees in music composition, music education, music and health, music technology and digital media, musicology/ethnomusicology/theory, and performance, including jazz and opera. There are 900 students, 600 undergraduate and 300 graduate.
