This selection process will identify librarians eligible for upcoming opportunities at the University of Ottawa Library as Part-time Librarians, working 4 months out of 6 for a maximum of 8 months out of 12, as per article 17.7.2.5 of the APUO Collective Agreement.
The immediate areas for which we will be considering candidates are:

Responsibilities: As part of a team of discipline specific librarians, the librarian works collaboratively with faculty, students and researchers in carrying out teaching and research activities through the use of information resources, related technologies and methods.
The main function of this position consists in actively participating in the many aspects of information literacy programs and references services including specialized reference within assigned disciplines. The incumbent ensures the collection in assigned disciplines is comprehensive and manages the marketing and maintenance of that collection.
The incumbent contributes to the development of new models of service and programs offered by the library in support of the teaching and research mission of the University of Ottawa.
Essential Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Library Science (M.L.S.) from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of professional experience, or fewer, depending on relevance of experience to the position.
- University degree in the related discipline is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of scholarly resources in the related disciplines, acquired through studies or professional experience.
- Good knowledge of and experience with electronic products and information technologies relevant to libraries.
- Pertinent knowledge of and experience in the areas of collection development, teaching and reference services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingual (English and French), written and spoken, including the ability to teach in both official languages.
Normally staffed at the rank of Librarian II (Salary scale: $65,147-101,301)
This position is part of the bargaining unit (Faculty, Librarians, Counsellors, Language teachers).
