Social Sciences - Economics - Three Full-Time Faculty Positions
The Faculty of Social Sciences is comprised nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
The Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa is accepting applications for three (3) tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor.
For two of the three positions, the specialization will be in the area of:
- Health economics
For the third position, the area of specialization is open, however a specialization in one of the following areas would be an asset:
- Development economics
- Econometrics
- Monetary economics
DUTIES
- Conduct research and publishing activities
- Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Supervise Master’s and Ph.D. candidates
- Participate in the University’s academic and administrative activities
- Other activities as specified in the collective agreement
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Ph.D. in Economics
- Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching, research and team work
- Possess a strong publication and research track record
BILINGUALISM
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution and all professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences must be actively bilingual to obtain tenure. The successful candidate will be required to teach in both English and French from their second year in the department. The University of Ottawa offers second-language training to staff members and their spouses.
HIRING CONDITIONS AND SALARY
These are set by the current collective agreement. Tenure-track positions are subject to budgetary approval.
STARTING DATE
July 1st, 2015

We will be participating in the annual Canadian Economics Employment Exchange meeting in Toronto which will be held in December 2014 and the AEA Meetings in Boston in January 2015.
