Chief Information Officer
Oxford Brookes has established its position as one of the top modern universities in the country, consistently ranked amongst the highest in its peer group. With a long-standing reputation for innovation, it continues to redefine excellence in higher education as a distinctive and successful player in a complex and competitive market.
We are keenly aware of the economic, social and cultural world around us, and our responsibility to contribute to society and ensure that our students thrive. We seek to offer a dynamic portfolio of courses, a sustainable approach to research, and an agile infrastructure so that we maintain our position as a premier learning and teaching institution with a strong research record.
Underpinning our success must be a cutting-edge technology environment that provides the learning, research and administrative infrastructure that our students and staff expect. Our IT Strategy sets out our vision for innovative, sector-leading IT which puts supporting students, teaching and research staff, as well as administrative success, at its heart. That is why the University has committed £20million of investment in a programme of IT projects over the next five years, including replacement of our student records systems.
Our new CIO must be able to lead a large central team of over 100 staff and expertly balance the priorities of delivering resilient services and infrastructure, as well as a range of projects where technology can enhance our offer.
Our new CIO must bring substantial experience of enterprise-wide system change along with evidence of successfully developing a customer culture that recognises the competitive nature of our sector. It is crucial that you develop a service that supports and enables but also challenges as we deliver an ambitious strategic plan.
Reporting to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, our CIO will bring a strategic perspective coupled with a drive to deliver operational improvements across the University, balancing this approach with commercial insight and an absolute focus on delivery. Higher education experience is not essential but candidates must demonstrate empathy and appreciation of the challenges and drivers, as well as our distinctive values. Candidates must be able to evidence that they have created and led high-performing teams that have delivered and met the needs of a complex and demanding customer base, in a multi-faceted organisation.
