Independent Governor
Falmouth University has become one of the UK's most significant creative innovation hubs. It plays a central role in the economic regeneration of Cornwall, and other parts of the South West. Our graduates are highly employable especially in the creative industries, and many set up their own businesses. The University has a dynamic management culture, and has ambitious plans to expand student numbers and to diversify into new but related areas of creative activity.
The Board of Governors is the governing body of the University, and has responsibility for ensuring the effective management of the institution, and approving its future strategy. Our Board members make an active contribution to achieving the University's objectives, and promote the University's interests locally, nationally and internationally.
There are two vacancies for Independent Governors to serve on the Board from May 2016 (one position) and September 2016 (one position).
We would welcome applications from individuals who are able to bring current, high level professional experience and skills to the Board in the following areas:
- Corporate finance, or
- UK Higher Education Policy, Strategy and Funding
This is an unpaid position: the University will meet reasonable expenses incurred by Governors undertaking Board business, for example travel to meetings and development events.
The Board meets formally 6 times per year, alternating the location of meetings between the two campuses - Falmouth and Penryn. 1 meeting per year may be held in London.
