Senior Manager Investments (MR6744)
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Manager, Investments will oversee the management of the McGill University Pension Plan and McGill Endowment fund making recommendations on tactical and strategic asset allocation and on rebalancing of investments, as well as leading investment managers’ selection and monitoring of all funds.
Primary Responsibilities:

Lead the investment team that manages the assets of the McGill University Pension Plan and McGill Endowment fund.

Prepare and present investment recommendations to Investment Committees.

Lead new search of external investments managers across all asset classes.

Oversees on-boarding of new relationships, on-going monitoring and termination of investment mandates.

Conduct due diligence and negotiate legal contracts with investment managers.

Oversee implementation and transition of managers and assets.

Manage the internal currency hedging program and execute foreign exchange transactions.

Budget and monitor the risk of the Pension Plan and of the Endowment fund; develop techniques to measure the funds risk and return contributions and maximize performance by allocating assets between asset classes and managers.

Supervises cash management.

Maintain and build knowledge and understanding of investment related matters, including investment industry trends and changes in the investment environment.
Minimum Education & Experience:
Undergraduate degree
Eight (8) years' related experience
Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
CFA, Master in finance or equivalent. Strong demonstrated knowledge of markets, investments and pension plans (i.e. tactical and strategic asset allocation, rebalancing of investments, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively and work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines. Proven ability to supervise employees. Proven experience working and negotiating with investment managers as well as managing these relationships to ensure that pension plan and endowment fund investment objectives are met. Demonstrated ability to undertake in-depth analysis of highly complex issues and assess their impact. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment. Heightened accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to draft, proofread and edit texts, documents or reports. Ability to transmit and receive information accurately at all levels. English and French, spoken, written and read.
