The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa invites applications and nominations for the position of Director, School of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Faculty, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

In addition to the School of Rehabilitation Sciences (SRS), the Faculty of Health Sciences includes four academic units dedicated to Nursing, Human Kinetics, Human Nutrition, as well as Interdisciplinary Health Sciences. The curriculum at the SRS, University of Ottawa, is framed within a perspective to facilitate the integration of the academic and professional preparations, using innovative pedagogical approaches and providing access to a wide spectrum of working environments while promoting opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and exchanges with faculty and clinical partners. The school offers a Doctorate in Rehabilitation Sciences and has nearly 250 students enrolled in professional degree programs leading to a Master of Health Sciences in Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Language Pathology to a Auditory-Verbal Studies Graduate Diploma. Situated in a bilingual academic background, the professional training programs of SRS are offered in the French language.

Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Director is responsible for the supervision and administration of the academic programs, budget and activities of the School. More specifically, in consultation with the Dean, the School Director defines the strategic plan in support of excellence in research and academic program content and delivery with the view to optimize academic talent and innovative thinking. As academic administrator, the School Director is expected to act in tandem with the Faculty Dean and other senior administration of the University in the management of human, financial and physical resources in support of the academic activities of the unit. The School Director is expected to show leadership in scholarly pursuits by maintaining teaching, research as well as professional contributions while fostering enhanced links and representation of the School with the local, provincial, and national Rehabilitation professional associations.

The successful applicant will exemplify the highest professional standards and possess some academic administrative experience. More specifically, the Faculty is seeking applications from dynamic individuals with a vision for the advancement of the School and creative thinking. Strong leadership skills and an ability to work effectively with a highly motivated and dedicated group of rehabilitation and other health care professionals are essential to carrying out the duties of the director.

Candidates are required to have a doctorate in one of the disciplines of rehabilitation sciences or in a related field, must have an active research dossier and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of professional training related to rehabilitation sciences. Candidates must demonstrate a good understanding of both official languages, French and English.
