Engineering - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), at the University of Ottawa is seeking applications from outstanding candidates for two (2) tenure-track faculty appointments in Computer Science, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science. We are interested in candidates specializing in all areas of Computer Science. However, we are especially encouraging candidates within the emerging areas of Data Science and Computational Sustainability to apply. We have particular interest in candidates whose work address the challenges posed by today’s exponential growth and availability of data, both structured and unstructured, and/or whose research focus on computational methods for balancing environmental, economic, and societal needs for a sustainable future.

The successful candidates should possess a strong research background and a strong commitment to excellence both in teaching and research. The candidates will be expected to initiate and maintain an innovative, externally funded research program and to teach Computer Science courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Because the University of Ottawa is Canada's premier bilingual university, preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual (French/English) and who are able to teach in both languages. Current research strengths in Computer Science at the School of EECS include algorithms, distributed computing and systems, multimedia and interactive virtual environments, information management and mining, as well as text analysis and machine learning. Further information may be viewed on our web site, located at http://engineering.uottawa.ca/eecs/.

The School of EECS at the University of Ottawa offers internationally competitive salaries and an outstanding research infrastructure. We are proud to have almost equal numbers of male and female professors in our Computer Science program.

The University of Ottawa is constantly ranked among the top 200 universities world-wide and in the top 10 universities in Canada. Located in the heart of Canada’s capital, which boasts the highest educated population in Canada, post-secondary education is extremely important in Ottawa’s knowledge-based economy. Excellence and diversity in research are built on solid collaboration with industry and government research institutions. Our Faculty puts a strong emphasis on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and we host both the Brunsfield Entrepreneurship Center as well as a brand new MakerSpace facility.

Applications will start being reviewed on December 1st of 2014 and will continue until the positions are filled. The following documents are requested in PDF format: curriculum vitae including publication list, concise statements of research and teaching interests, names and addresses (including e-mail) of four references.
