Position Overview

The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for two (2) Research Assistant positions. These Fixed Term Recurring Part-time positions are for approximately 5 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Primary Investigator the Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research tasks in the area of child development psychology related to meta-analysis on the intergenerational transmission of maltreatment/abuse.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Perform abstract reviews
  • Assist with coding for a meta-analysis
  • Assist with refining the coding process
  • Enter in research data and retrieving studies
  • Ensure that all work conducted is in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and other health and safety legislation as applicable

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • University degree in Psychology (completed or in progress, Honours preferred)
  • Recent related experience in a research laboratory environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy (e.g. familiarity with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, online research databases)
  • Organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills including an ability to prioritize work, to work under pressure, and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to work in a team environment with research participants and lab associates
  • Ability to problem solve, follow specific directions and research protocols
  • Highly detailed orientated with the ability to produce accurate work
