Position Title: 
Learning Technology Consultant (IST2G)
Position Summary: 
The Learning Technology Consultant will develop, implement, coordinate, and maintain information systems for Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) and provide one-on-one consultations and custom workshops to instructors, TAs and staff on educational technology. The main responsibilities include activities related to the administration of the MERCURY online course evaluation system; providing support for educational technologies, enhancing and updating the various websites, providing technical support for TLS workshops and projects, developing and managing the electronic records of the unit, providing support for faculty, staff and students in TLS related projects and acting as the technical liaison with other support units (notably ER, IT Services, Libraries).
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Provide instructional development counselling and training workshops for various University groups; and consulting, help desk services, and information systems support for students and staff.
  • Maximize understanding and acceptance through effective communication and administration.
  • Implement practical procedures or systems that are moderately complex, according to established goals and objectives to support the unit's operations and to ensure that services meet or exceed established goals and objectives to support the unit's operations and to ensure that services meet or exceed established quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot problems. When appropriate, inform supervisor and formulate recommendations.
  • Maintain good rapport with students and staff and the University community.
  • Establish and foster effective working relationship with clients by identifying and responding to their needs and providing information systems support, instructional development counseling and training.
Minimum Education & Experience: 

Undergraduate Degree (related field)

Three (3) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 
Demonstrated awareness of the role of teaching and learning in the University environment. Must be patient, client focused and service oriented. Organizational decision-making skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to effectively provide training and support to faculty and staff. Communication skills and presentation skills and the ability to write training materials and related documentation. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, email, presentation software, Banner and Minerva and knowledge of HTML and the internet. English, spoken and written. French, spoken.
