Position Title: 
Assoc Dir FOM Accreditation (ADM3A)
Position Summary: 
Reporting to the Vice-Dean, Education and working in close collaboration with Associate Deans, Chairs and Directors of all units of the Faculty of Medicine, the Associate Director – Faculty of Medicine Accreditation is responsible for the general management and coordination of all Faculty of Medicine accreditation-related activities and processes, including cyclical reviews.
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Assists the Vice-Dean, Education in the overall management and coordination of all of the Faculty’s accreditation-related activities and processes, including cyclical reviews, and participates in establishing strategic direction and undertaking initiatives on all such matters;
  • Serves as the primary contact for accreditation and cyclical review-related questions and requests from the Faculty’s associate deaneries, departments, schools, institutes, centres and other units;
  • Assists and advises Associate Deans, Chairs and Directors through application processes of various accrediting bodies, institutions and/or associations (educational membership, candidacy, first-time accreditation, reaffirmation of accreditation);
  • Oversees and manages accreditation and cyclical review-related tasks across the Faculty, including but not limited to :
    • Leading Interim Review Surveys, conducting mock interviews, leading Self-study Task Force groups, overseeing data collection, distributing lists of standards to the appropriate persons and critically appraising the extent to which the Faculty meets such standards;
    • Setting up processes for learner based self-studies such as Independent Student Analysis (ISA), as needed, and ensuring logistical support in producing ISA reports;
    • Conducting systematic reviews of all standards such as the development of a Data Collection Instrument (DCI), including a critical self-assessment of current compliance on each standard;
    • Ensuring that the Vice-Dean, Education as well as the relevant Associate Deans, Chairs and Directors are cognizant of standards in non-compliance, or in compliance, with monitoring.
  • Continuously monitors the Faculty’s compliance with the standards it is subject to, using outcome data (e.g. Canadian Graduate Questionnaire, One45 data, etc.), and reports on same to internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Chairs or serves as a regular member of committees created as required for the purposes of accreditation and external review processes and provides regular follow-up on progress with standards;
  • Functions independently in directing the work of his/her staff (currently 2), anticipates and resolves problems proactively, leads the decision-making process and provides consistent leadership;
  • Establishes and implements the relevant budgets, as needed;
  • Manages special projects, as needed.
Minimum Education & Experience: 

Undergraduate degree

Five (5) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 
Master’s degree or Professional Designation an asset. Extensive leadership and management experience, ideally in an academic, healthcare or other similar setting. Previous accreditation experience, an asset. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple units simultaneously as well as to plan and delegate assignments, review work, supervise staff and work successfully and harmoniously with multiple high-ranking individuals and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external in group settings. Superior organizational and analytical skills along with sound judgment. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in English and French.
